LinkedIn Headline Generator

Recruiters search LinkedIn by job title and skills. Your headline should contain both — and still read like a person wrote it.

Comma-separated. Use the words recruiters would search for.

Runs in your browser. Nothing is stored.

How it works

  1. 1

Enter your current role and the role you're aiming for.

  2. 2

List three to six skills or specialisms recruiters would search for.

  3. 3

Pick a headline, check it fits on mobile, and paste it into your profile.

What recruiters look for

Put the searchable words first

Only the first ~60 characters show in many search results and comments. Lead with the title.

Use the market's words, not your company's

Internal titles like “Customer Happiness Hero” don't get searched. Use the title other companies use for the same job.

“Open to work” isn't a headline

It says you're available, not what you're good at. Use the dedicated setting instead.

Questions

How long can a LinkedIn headline be?+

LinkedIn allows up to 220 characters, but the beginning matters most because it's what's visible in search results, comments and invitations.

Should I include my target role if I'm not in it yet?+

Yes, framed honestly — for example “Marketing Coordinator → Product Marketing”. It tells recruiters where you're heading without claiming a title you haven't held.
