Resume Summary Generator

Your summary is the first thing read and the fastest thing skipped. Give it your experience, target role and skills — get three versions built to be read.

Include one result with a number if you can. It becomes the core of your summary.

Comma-separated, strongest first.

How it works

  1. 1

Describe your experience in a sentence or two — include one result if you can.

  2. 2

Add the role you're targeting and your strongest skills.

  3. 3

Pick the version closest to your voice, then edit it until it sounds like you.

What recruiters look for

Write for the role you want

The summary is a positioning statement, not a biography. Lead with what makes you relevant to the target job.

Three lines is plenty

Recruiters scan. If your summary is longer than your most recent role's bullets, it's too long.

Skip the adjectives

“Passionate, dynamic, results-driven” tells a recruiter nothing. One concrete result tells them everything.

Questions

Do I need a resume summary?+

It's most useful when your title doesn't obviously match the job — career changers, generalists, or people moving up a level. For a straightforward next step, a short summary still helps frame what follows.

Should I write it in the first person?+

Resume summaries traditionally drop the “I” (implied first person). The generator follows that convention.
